From the President:
On behalf of the members of the South Carolina Koi and Water Garden Society, I would like to welcome you. Our goal is to promote the hobby of keeping Koi and pond fish, and encourage an interest in aquatic plants and water gardening, while some of us breed Koi and pond fish as well. We meet monthly, generally at a member’s home. We all bring a dish to share and enjoy a brief program of interest to our members. We are a diverse group with a wide range of water pond and gardening interests. Some choose to keep small ponds while others choose large ponds to keep their fish in a natural setting with streams and waterfalls. In many, you will enjoy the sights and sounds of a waterfall, which add to the serenity of the back yard.
In the past years we have sponsored a pond tour, generally in early June, where members open their yards and ponds to the community. It gives others a chance to see what can be done in various settings. Many good ideas have been spawned due to the pond tour.
We have now expanded our program to include a Koi show in October, which is open to the public, and provides our members and members of other clubs from surrounding states the opportunity to show their Koi in competition.
We welcome everyone, both young and old. You do not need to have a water garden to join our club. All you need is some curiosity. Dues are minimal. If interested, contact us at the e-mail address below.
